Describes the mechanism whereby human characteristics are passed from generation to generation. Explains and illustrates the function of chromosomes, genes, and DNA in the heredity pattern Search Educational Film Journals at Media History Project for references to this film SummaryExplains how characteristics such as color of hair or skin and types of body are inherited. Contains a reference to the number of chromosomes that is no ./ia metorrect. Topics: 16mm Film, Educational Film, Human genetics, Heredity, Human, Blood plasma, Chromosomes, Blood... The mitotic metaphases in males and females of Sylepta multilinealis Guen. were studied using in vitro colchicine treatment and differential staining technique of G-banding. Karyotypes prepared from G-banded female somatic metaphases of brain ganglia revealed 2n=62 with heteromorphic sex chromosome pair ZW, while the male karyotypes (2n=62) showed a homomorphic ZZ sex chromosome pair. Z was distinctly recognized as the largest element in the female somatic karyotypes. Pair nos. 1, 3, 8, and 10... Cytogenetics of Salivary Gland NeoplasmsLieutenant Rachel L. Werner, DC, USN, Captain Robert D. Foss, DC, USNIntroductionMolecular cytogenetics involves, among other things, the study of chromosomal abnormalities at the level of DNA. Chromosome translocations are genetic abnormalities caused by the transfer of a chromosomal segment to a new position, especially on a different chromosome. Translocations can result in the overexpression of one gene by placing it next to a routinely expressed... Surfin' Bird was a zine from Montreal that came out in November 1978. This issue featured an interview with the Battered Wives, a piece on Elvis Costello, a column by the guitarist of the Chromosomes, a piece on DEVO, a piece on Bruce Springsteen, Keith Richardsm, and some record reviews which included Blondie, the Rezillos, the Clash, the Dishes, and the Buzzcocks. The role of certain gene enzymes in survival in modified atmospheres was examined. Chromosome morphology was studied. Mortality and life span were measured. Equipment to deliver various gas mixtures to the flies was designed and fabricated. To study the gene enzymes a technique called starch gel electrophoresis was needed. Equipment and supplies for this work and the study of chromosome morphology was available on the market, although some of the equipment was fabricated to save the project...
